An international, non-profit social organisation with a Catholic ethos, operating in 11 countries. They have been active in Colombia since 1994, supporting children and young people, single mothers, and elderly citizens. Their mission focuses on social transformation through four key areas: education, nutrition, pro-life initiatives, and entrepreneurship.
In Bogotá, their work is centred in the Santa Viviana neighbourhood of Ciudad Bolívar. There, they run the kitchen at the “Didascalio Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza School”, providing breakfast and lunch for the school community, as well as lunch for a local senior citizens’ dining programme.
This educational institution serves 350 children in extremely vulnerable situations each day, providing them with breakfast and lunch. It is located in the upper part of the Sierra Morena neighbourhood in Ciudad Bolívar, in southern Bogotá. The school also provides meals to 70 elderly people.
For hygiene and sanitation reasons, the institution requires an industrial dishwasher and a large-capacity freezer to safely store and preserve large food donations.
Note: The total cost of the project was £9,403. The remaining £1,455 was funded by FOCSA Bogotá from its own resources.
Estimated Child Coverage: At present, they are serving 300 children per year and plan to expand this number to 700 by the end of 2026–2027.
