About Friends of Colombia for Social Aid - FOCSA
Our mission is to help to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged children in Colombia. We fulfil our mission by donating medical, educational and other vital equipment to hospitals and specialised institutions that treat these children and improve the quality of their lives.
We receive many requests for help from poorly-funded hospitals that assist children in very scarce conditions all over the country. These requests are reviewed by our medical advisors and the help of our Projects committee in London and Bogotá, and we prioritise based on the impact we will have. We not only save the lives of babies and children, but often the mothers' whose lives are in danger. By helping the children, we are contributing to the welfare of the families as well.
After we have donated, we have follow-up visits to ensure the donated equipment is used properly and to have an ongoing dialogue with the institutions and hospitals that received our donations.
