At Friends of Colombia for Social Aid (FOCSA) we hope this message finds you and your families well. These are very difficult times and we would like to assure you that our first priority is the health and wellbeing of our friends, supporters, volunteers and their families.
In light of the recent events relating to the COVID-19 outbreak and the updated guidance from the government which advises on social distance measures, FOCSA has decided to postpone our Spring Fiesta 2020. This was not an easy decision as we know how much everyone was looking forward to the Spring Fiesta 2020, but it is clearly the right thing to do in these exceptional circumstances.
We remain committed to improving the lives of the most disadvantaged children of Colombia and as a result, we will continue to explore with your support, fundraising options during the coming months. We hope we can come together again at our next Spring Fiesta, and celebrate the wonderful community of supporters and volunteers we have at FOCSA.
We will keep you closely informed over the coming weeks on the new arrangements for our next Spring Fiesta and our future fundraising events.
Thank you very much for your continuous commitment and support to FOCSA’s mission.
Please stay safe, look after yourselves and others. We much look forward to being together soon again in a future FOCSA fundraising event.
About Friends of Colombia for Social Aid - FOCSA
Our mission is to help to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged children in Colombia. We fulfil our mission by donating medical, educational and other vital equipment to hospitals and specialised institutions that treat these children and improve the quality of their lives.
We receive many requests for help from poorly-funded hospitals that assist children in very scarce conditions all over the country. These requests are reviewed by our medical advisors and the help of our Projects committee in London and Bogotá, and we prioritise based on the impact we will have. We not only save the lives of babies and children, but often the mothers' whose lives are in danger. By helping the children, we are contributing to the welfare of the families as well.
After we have donated, we have follow-up visits to ensure the donated equipment is used properly and to have an ongoing dialogue with the institutions and hospitals that received our donations.
